Description
3 day class
Come join us for a three-day step-by-step, hands on, instructional class to get you over the hump of beginning carving. The skills involved in relief carving three-dimensional projects can be frustrating if you try to learn from a book, and sometimes they are hard to experience even through a video. The joy of seeing your carvings come to life is incredibly gratifying.
We will start with sharpening several different profiles of carving tools and progress into learning to deal with grain direction. Then, we will move onto carving several artfully designed projects that build your skills in a methodical way. You will need to bring carving tools in order to participate in the class. While we highly recommend the Pfeil Swiss made tools as they have proven to be excellent tools here in our shop, you may certainly bring other brands of tools you have already. Just compare them to the list following to make sure they are comparable. The patterns we will be following will depend upon having the correct tools.
There are so many wonderful ways carving is used to bring interest and beauty. So, lets get carving!
We will need you to bring the following tools with you to this class.
