Description
In this workshop we will give a brief review of knitting practices, and students will learn to master the second basic knitting stitch (the purl stitch) using circular needles. You will learn how to work a stockinette pattern (the most common pattern for sweaters and other knitted garments), how to read and follow a knitting pattern, how to understand gauge, and will learn a new cast on method, the long tail cast on.
In the class you begin a patterned scarf using knit and purl stitches in a combination of garter stitch and stockinette stitch patterns. We will also review and practice the technique for correcting simple mistakes. Before taking this class you should know how to work the knit stitch. Circular needles and yarn for a scarf will be provided and are included in the materials fee.
This is a half-day class from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Prerequisite: Knitting 101 – The Knit Stitch (1/2-day)
