Description
1 day class
If you’ve always wanted to begin weaving at home or you enjoy weaving but find the larger looms impractical for any reason, this workshop is for you! Learn the art of weaving fabric using a simple, two shaft rigid heddle loom. This simple and practical loom is large enough to weave a wide range of projects including placemats, napkins, dish towels, shawls, fabric for clothes and many more woven items.
In this one day beginning workshop you will become familiar with the loom and weaving terminology, learn direct warping, practice basic weaving skills, and weave a simple scarf. You will choose from one of Rachel’s hand-painted worsted weight wool yarns for your base color (the warp) and you will weave with a coordinating solid color. At the end of the class you will leave with a lovely handwoven, variegated scarf.
We will provide the use of a loom, tools, materials and a notebook.
We have looms and weaving supplies for sale. If you’d like to purchase your own loom, please call us at (254) 300-2436 when you sign up for the class and at least one week before the class, so that we can put it together for you. (Students who take this class are eligible for a 10% discount on most purchases made at the time of class.)
This class is from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
All our classes close 24 hours before the class date with the exception of classes that start on Monday, which will close the Friday before. If there’s a class that closed early that you’d like to attend, please call us at 254-754-9620 to check for availability.
