Description
6 day class
In this six-day workshop you will learn the art of hand cutting multiple dovetails on a large chest side. You will also learn how to make a frame and panel lid complete with a hand-planed raised panel and a mortise-and-tenon frame. The skills learned in making the lid alone are the same skills that you will need to make a fine cabinet door. The sides and top are cherry with an optional curly maple panel. The bottom will be solid cedar inside. The dimensions of the chest are 42″ wide, 19″ deep and 20″ tall. Although we will teach you how we prepared the wide panels, please note that we will pre-glue and pre-mill many of the parts prior to the class (in the interest of time). See below for the list of recommended tools for the class. In this class, we make this chest in cherry. If you would like to make it in walnut, it will be an additional $140.00.
