The Introductory class (Rigid Heddle 100) is a one-day class to try your hand at weaving. We will provide a loom for you to use in this class.

The series of half-day classes (Rigid Heddle 101-106) will assist you to develop the skills introduced in the Rigid Heddle introductory class and will teach you a variety of skills and patterns that you will use in weaving attractive scarves. Once you have learned these patterns, you can use them for other projects such as fabric, shawls, cushions, towels, and so forth. In these classes you will have the opportunity to practice reading different patterns, calculating your materials, direct warping and threading your loom and improving your weaving skills. We have found that repetition really does help students to retain what they have learned and to have the confidence to undertake new and exciting projects. For these classes you will bring your own loom so that you can complete each class project at home. We will use 8, 10 and 12-dent reeds, various sized stick shuttles and pick-up sticks (for details see each class description). If you do not have any of these items, you may purchase at the time of class. We also have looms for sale if you wish to purchase your own. If you do wish to purchase a loom for use in one of these classes, please let us know at least a week before the class. (Students who take this class are eligible for a 10% discount on most purchases made at the time of class.)

If you do not own a loom, you may use one of ours and take home whatever you have completed by the end of the class. If you wish to use one of our looms, please notify us when you sign up for the class, so that a loom will be available for you to use.
